A remake of a very nice and popular UO map. It took me months to make this map to be the most accurate as possible.

Early on the morning of 6 June 1969, a Centurion tank and an armoured recovery vehicle were making their way along Route 2 towards the village of An Binh. Classified as ‘amber’, the route was considered one on which enemy contact was possible, but unlikely. The unlikely happened when a rocket propelled grenade (RPG) fired from a nearby house struck the Centurion’s turret, wounding the operator and inviting retaliatory machine-gun fire from both vehicles before they left the scene. This provocative shot heralded a battle that raged for two days, left much of An Binh in ruins and resulted in the Australian Task Force winning one of its most comprehensive victories of the Vietnam War.

On January 30, 1968, the North Vietnamese surprised both the U.S. forces and the South Vietnamese by orchestrating a coordinated assault with the Viet Cong to attack about a hundred South Vietnamese cities and towns. Although the U.S. forces and the South Vietnamese army were able to repel the assault known as the Tet Offensive, this attack provedto Americans that the enemy was stronger and better organized than they had been led to believe. The Tet Offensive was a turning point in the war.

In June 1969 5RAR fought one of the last large-scale actions of the Australian war, during the Battle of Binh Ba five kilometers north of Nui Dat in Phuoc Tuy province. The battle was unusual in the Australian experience, involving close-quarter house-to-house fighting through the village of Binh Ba against a combined force of Viet Cong and North Vietnamese Army. For the loss of one Australian killed at least 91 VC/NVA were killed and 11 captured in a hard fought but one-sided engagement. Such large-scale battles were not the norm in Phuoc Tuy province however. Indeed losses suffered at Binh Ba forced the NVA to move out of Phuoc Tuy into adjoining provinces and although the Australians did encounter main force units in the years to come, the Battle of Binh Ba marked the end of such clashes.

It is a wide, open map with plenty of vegetation and cover spots. The map has three distinct sections: a farm located on the northern half of the map containing a large barn and two fields that provide cover and concealment, a curved street lined with buildings on the southern half of the map and running horizontally through the middle of the map is a river bed with two bridges on the east and western sides of the map crossing over it. This map is great for big parties simply because of its large size.
